Privacy Policy

Sathu is a Buddhist chanting and dharma content app operated by Kritmongkol Wisitpaskool (“we”).

1 · Summary

• No account required. We never ask for your name, email, phone number or password.
• We do not store your AI conversations. Neither questions nor answers are saved on our servers.
• We do not sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
• We store usage numbers only, to control cost and prevent abuse.

2 · What we store on our servers

If the Google Play “Data safety” card shows “Device or other IDs”: Google places this kind of identifier in that category, which also covers identifiers an app generates itself. It does not mean the app reads your hardware identifiers. Ours is created by the app, kept in the app’s private storage, unreadable by other apps, does not follow you across apps, and is neither an Advertising ID nor a device serial number.

One record set only, for the AI chat feature: a device code (a random string generated by the app itself — not a hardware identifier, not an Advertising ID, not linked to any person, used to share the daily question quota fairly), the date, a short outcome code (allowed / filtered / error — never your text), and token counts with estimated cost.

The table has no column capable of holding message text. That is deliberate, not an oversight. We do not keep IP addresses in usage records and do not use them to identify users.

3 · Where your AI messages go

Your question is relayed through our server to Google’s Gemini API, which generates the answer. Our server does not log the text in either direction. Google’s processing is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. For conversational context the app includes up to 2 previous question–answer pairs, which are held on your device only.

Please do not type personal or sensitive information into the chat. This feature answers questions about Buddhist practice. It is not medical, legal or financial advice, and it is not an emergency service.

4 · Data kept only on your device

Saved chants, app settings, downloaded audio and images, and the random device code (8–64 characters, generated on the device). The current AI conversation is held in memory only and is gone when the app closes. None of this is backed up to the cloud or transferred between devices — the app disables Android backup on both channels. Uninstalling the app removes all of it.

5 · Permissions

• INTERNET — Download chants, audio files, backdrop images, the calendar, and send questions in the dharma chat
• ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — Detect whether the device is on WiFi, to enforce the user-controlled "large downloads on WiFi only" setting
• WAKE_LOCK — Keep the CPU awake during playback so audio does not stutter when the screen turns off
• FOREGROUND_SERVICE — Continue playing chants and dharma talks after the user leaves the app
• FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK — Android 14+ requires declaring the foreground service type; this one is media playback
• POST_NOTIFICATIONS — Android 13+ requires permission before showing playback controls on the lock screen and Buddhist holy day reminders
• RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED — Re-schedule holy day reminders after a restart, because Android clears all scheduled alarms on boot
• VIBRATE — Declared by the notification plugin itself. The app never triggers vibration anywhere; any vibration is the system default for the notification channel

6 · Third parties

Google Gemini API (answer generation) and Cloudflare (network delivery) are used. No advertising. We do not sell, rent or trade your data. We disclose information only where required by law.

7 · Retention

Usage records are kept for 30 days and then deleted. Conversations are never stored, so no retention period applies to them.

8 · Children

The app is general religious content and is not designed specifically for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and by design the app does not request identifying information from anyone.

9 · Security

All traffic between the app and our servers uses HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but because we store no conversations and operate no user accounts, there is no personal data to expose.

10 · Your rights

Under Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (PDPA) you may request access, correction or deletion of data relating to you. In practice the only data we hold is tied to an app-generated random code that cannot be traced back to you. To request deletion, open the app, go to Settings → About, copy your device code, and email it to [email protected]. Records tied to that code will be deleted. No name or other detail is needed — we have no way to know whose code it is.

11 · Changes

Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above and announced in the app.

12 · Meditation and relaxation features

The app includes a meditation section with a timer and guiding bells — features for relaxation and mindfulness practice. The app makes no health or medical claims, is not a medical device, and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or replace professional advice. It collects no health data of any kind.
